Here’s to the Ones Who Dream

“Here’s to the ones who dream. Foolish as they may seem.”

Have you seen La La Land? Other than my yellow dress being an obvious homage to the utterly charming musical, the theme of the movie also resonates with me in varying degrees of self-assessment.

We’ve all had our fair share of stupid pursuits in the hopes of attaining either short-lived happiness or lifelong zeal. But how do we distinguish the difference between these two? How do we separate simple, shallow pleasures of life from those that will sustain and fulfill our souls in the long run?

The aforementioned uncertainty will create doubt in you to not pursue the things that you’ve been longing to do.  Because there’s always that question of: Is it worth it?

But, you know what? Perhaps, not everything has to make sense.

Personally, I can’t pay too much attention to the act itself nor its longevity of purpose, all I’m after for is the end result at the moment. Yes, it coincides with the idea of instant gratification, I know. But hear me out.

Did it make you happy? Yes? Or do you have to constantly worry about your looming unfulfilled self? If it’s the former, fuck yes, then go after it.

Because instant “positive” gratification when piled up consistently will likely bear satisfying results in time.

The word “Dream” can be a far fetched term. “Happiness”, on the other hand, is a very subjective idea. But either way, it makes life more unpredictable and interesting.

I thought this post will end up as a movie review. So I hope you don’t mind having some unsolicited “note-to-self” drama.

P.S.

My favorite scene in the movie?

When Mia and Sebastian shared that knowing smile of regret and closure at the end.(Go watch. You’ll know why.)
