“She’s no fashion aficionado and I’ll never inherit a vintage Chanel Classic Double Flap Bag nor a Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30 but I sure did learn normcore and monochromatic dressing from her long before those words entered my vocabulary.”
If you’ve worn a thing or two that pleased or dismayed someone’s sartorial palate at some point in your life, certainly, you’ve been asked those quintessential questions of “Who influenced your style?” or “How did you first become interested in fashion?”. Of which after a minute or two of gawking at that person whilst mindlessly questioning and staring at your own present wardrobe , you’ll come up with an array of people, some conventional but mostly an unbeknownst line up.
My answer to the first question varies widely with time, mood and the knowledge of the other person on the matter. If it’s just for the heck and continuity of a banal conversation whilst waiting for the habitually late train or the food to be served, then I’ll resort to the cliché names of local and international bloggers. Well, albeit true, I’d still love to mention the likes of Kamilya Kuspan, Yoyo Cao or Adam Kats Sinding and Vanessa Jackman‘s subjects, if given the hint of recognition from the other person.
As for the other question, the answer remains consistent. What started out as her mere mission to make us look presentable and to justify her “prim and proper: a sure fire way to academic and moral excellence” kind of reasoning and maternal advocacy soon propagated into a deeper level of creative pursuit for me.
She’s no fashion afficionado and I’ll never inherit a vintage Chanel Classic Double Flap Bag nor a Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30 but I sure did learn normcore and monochromatic dressing from her long before those words entered my vocabulary.
And when I feel inadequate about my own closet , I’d rummage through her boxes of pre-mom era clothes. Most often, I would find a treasure or two. This time, in the form of high waisted jeans from a now defunct Hong Kong-based brand, Miss Rallye.
Not the most ass-hugging pants in the world, I must say, but it sure did give me the reason to undo my shirt.
All in balance my friend, all in balance.

Can I simply say what a comfort to uncover someone that really understands what they’re talking about online.
You certainly know how to bring an issue to light and make it important.
More people have to look at this and understand this side
of the story. It’s surprising you aren’t
more popular since you most certainly possess the gift.
Thank you!
