Maybe. Just maybe, these mountains have the answers to everything. But like any wise man, they choose to remain silent because they know better than nonsense clamor. So, I look up to them. In awe.
Though I know that mountains know everything, I think it can still get lost among distracted eyes. I can vaguely distinguish the two mountains. But it was one of those hikes where I remember the nuances more than the scenic view in the large scheme of things.
I recall tiptoeing on the jagged patch of the mountain, carefully balancing myself lest I fall into those judging rocks of Mt. Hapunang Banoi.
Then I also remember rock climbing towards the summit of Mt. Pamitinan. Skin glistening from the glaring sun. Clearly, the latter was mad. Mad enough to make my eyes squint for a good amount of time on its summit. But like a curious kid, you have to fight the heat and take a peek at the scenic view.
Had we not arrived a little bit late, we would’ve finished the acclaimed three summits. The third being Mt. Binacayan. But no worries, I did climb that mountain here. Far more memorable.
Solidified my love of sunrises.
